A gaming floor packed with slots and gambling tables. A parking garage that will hold up to 3,000 cars. A 29-story tower with hotel room views of the Boston skyline.
Wynn Boston Harbor, the largest private single-phase development in the history of Massachusetts, is a massive undertaking, transforming an eyesore left behind by a chemical manufacturing firm into a curved bronze tower aiming to draw gamblers from across the world
Officials behind the project, including Wynn Boston Harbor President Robert DeSalvio, recently took MassLive on a tour of the fast-rising structure, as hundreds of workers poured concrete, pulled together steel beams and trucked through the muddy 33-acre site on the Mystic River.
Here’s what you should know about the project as they continue to build and prepare to open.
The opening is set for June 2019. It’s the second casino that will be open in Massachusetts.MGM’s Springfield casino will cost $950 million and open September 2018.
The state’s sole slots parlor, Plainridge Park Casino, opened in June 2015 and cost $250 million.
